Maurya Kala Parisar participated in International Yoga Day 2026 organized by the Embassy of India in Kuwait
The Embassy of India in Kuwait celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga at the Boulevard Cricket Stadium as part of a three-day Yoga Festival held from 19th to 21st June 2026

This year's theme Yoga for Healthy Ageing," highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting a healthier, more active, and balanced life at every stage of life. More than 2,200 participants gathered for the celebrations in the early hours of the morning, with many attendees beginning to arrive at the venue as early as 4:00 a.m. onwards on a weekend Saturday, ahead of the mass yoga session that commenced at 5:00 a.m. The remarkable turnout reflected the growing popularity and universal appeal of yoga among people from diverse backgrounds across Kuwait. Through the efforts of the Embassy of India, Kuwait, in collaboration with various sponsors and supporters, participants were provided complimentary event T-shirts, yoga mats, drinking water, and refreshing juices, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience while helping them stay hydrated throughout the program.
The International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations were organized by the Embassy of India, Kuwait, under the esteemed leadership of Her Excellency Mrs. Paramita Tripathi, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, whose efforts continue to strengthen the longstanding friendship and growing strategic partnership between India and Kuwait through cultural, educational, and community initiatives. Her Excellency Mrs. Paramita Tripathi is a distinguished career diplomat from the 2001 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, bringing over two decades of experience in diplomacy and international relations.The event was graced by Her Excellency Ms. Shaikha Ali Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Founder of Daratma, President of the Kuwait Yoga Committee, and Padma Shri Awardee (2025), and Her Excellency Ms. Nouf Marwaai, Founder of the Arab Yoga Foundation, Saudi Arabia, President of the Asian Yogasana Sports Federation, and Padma Shri Awardee (2018). The Padma Shri is India's fourth-highest civilian award, conferred in recognition of distinguished contributions in various fields. The celebration was also attended by Her Excellency Mrs. Lena Maryana Mukti, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Kuwait, along with several distinguished diplomats, dignitaries, government officials, community leaders, students, and yoga enthusiasts, reflecting the universal appeal of yoga and its power to unite people across cultures and nations.
Maurya Kala Parisar (MKP), one of the oldest Indian community organizations in Kuwait, was established in 1995 with the objective of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and values of the people of Bihar and Jharkhand. For more than three decades, MKP has been actively serving the Indian diaspora through cultural, educational, social, health, and community welfare initiatives while fostering unity, harmony, and mutual support among its members. Under the stewardship of its President, Dr. Sumant Mishra, Paediatric Dentist, Ministry of Health, Kuwait; Gold Medalist from the University of Delhi, India; holder of a Master's Degree in Clinical Paediatric Dentistry from Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom; and recipient of 16 consecutive years of Excellence Awards in Clinical Appraisal from the Ministry of Health, Kuwait, Maurya Kala Parisar (MKP) encouraged the active participation of families, women, and children in the International Day of Yoga celebrations. In line with the organization's vision of "Catch Them Young, Train Them Young," special emphasis was placed on involving children at an early age to foster healthy lifestyles, leadership values, community engagement, and social responsibility. MKP also actively promoted the participation of women as part of its commitment to family empowerment, inclusive community development, and holistic well-being.
Along with several other community organizations, Maurya Kala Parisar (MKP), Kuwait actively participated in the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations organized by the Embassy of India, Kuwait, promoting the spirit of health, wellness, harmony, and unity through yoga. Among the participants from MKP was Master Agastya Pandey, aged one year and seven months, who joined the yoga session along with his parents, symbolizing the importance of introducing healthy habits, discipline, and wellness practices from an early age. In addition to the mass yoga session, visitors enjoyed the "Yoga in Focus" Photo Contest Exhibition and a beautiful display of yoga-themed paintings, adding a cultural and artistic dimension to the celebrations. The International Day of Yoga reminds us that yoga is more than a practice—it is a way of life that nurtures physical health, mental well-being, inner peace, and harmony. As the world embraces healthier lifestyles and holistic well-being, yoga continues to serve as a timeless gift from India to humanity.
